Thank you for gathering with us on Wednesday night for a truly lovely summer evening. We learned about a fascinating chapter of our local history, listened to beautiful music, saw some incredible classic cars, explored the mansion, and simply enjoyed the gift of good company.

Sometimes we need these high points to remind us of how blessed we are to have such a unique and beautiful place in our lives. Our campus, with its historic mansion and expansive green space, brings joy to our students and, as we saw so clearly, to the wider community as well.

A significant number of our guests at Summer Fest were in from out of town to attend a Notre Dame conference. They were awed by the beauty of our campus. What a special moment for us and for them! 

As caretakers, our goal is to ensure that this place continues to be a source of beauty and goodness to our students, our alumni, and to the broader community for generations to come.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our special guests who made last night so memorable:
 

• Thank you, Garrett Soucy! Garrett is an incredibly talented guest musician who traveled to South Bend all the way from rural Maine, where he serves as a minister. In addition to his music. Garrett is the gifted author of Who is this Rock?, and the poetry collection Between the Joints & the Marrow.
• Thank you, Forest Walton! Our guest speaker is an architect at South Bend's own Duncan G. Stroik architecture firm. Forest gave a fascinating lecture entitled: "A Study of Clement Studebaker II's Elm Court: The design, materials, and craft of early 20th century American architecture."
